greenhouse effect - cause
The large greenhouse effect of the earth is caused by a few trace gases, the most important being water vapor and clouds, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, nitrous oxide and industrial chemicals (CFCs, PFCs, sulfur hexafluoride). Greenhouse gas can from natural sources and human activities originate. But now it is above all, "anthropogenic," that is man-made, ejections or "emissions (see carbon cycle )" of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gas throw - like the glass in the conservatory - a portion of the light emitted by the earth heat energy back and thus cause an (additional) heating. You know the phenomenon well as hot or cold nights. If follows a beautiful sunny day, a clear cloudless night, it can be cold. Drag thick clouds, it remains comparatively warmer at night, because the heat dissipation is impeded.
